About the role

North Northant's Council's Tech, Digital and Data team are looking for a customer-focused, dedicated individual to join us. Our team has big plans and grand ambitions to be an inspirational local government IT service, for which we're seeking talented individuals to help us achieve those goals.

If you love IT and you're looking for a new challenge, an opportunity has arisen to join our IT Service Delivery team.

North Northants IT Service Desk supports over 3500 staff across the County. Our customers perform a variety of services and support roles to the local residents, for which they rely on the IT Service Delivery team to ensure their technology platforms are working and are there to support them when it isn't! You're never sure who is going to call requesting assistance on a given day, and that is the exciting challenge we're for someone to join us in supporting.

What will you be doing?

This role is intended to provide 1st line IT Support to internal colleagues. You'll be the first point of contact for staff with any and all IT issues. 


Although a good knowledge of IT and working experience is preferred, we are very interested in any individual who is passionate about IT and providing a high level of professional and warm customer service, individuals who want to make a difference and love to learn new skills and challenge themselves.

There's a lot to be learnt at North Northants Council, we will provide you the training and tools to learn and develop, ensuring you are supported as you progress in your IT Career. The IT Service Desk supports all Information Technology and Communication services ranging from software, hardware, network, voice, and Cloud-tools such as M365.

We value flexible working and work-life balance, and you will have opportunities to work from home when possible. However, it is important to note this role is customer facing, so it will also involve supporting staff working all over North Northamptonshire. Initially you will be based at one of our main offices, however in time you will also be supporting staff at our other offices too, either in person or remotely, so having the ability to travel between sites is important.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual, working within a team of like-minded individuals providing 1st and 2nd Line Support. The IT Service Delivery team is committed and passionate about providing excellent levels of customer service and supporting our colleagues as they support our residents.
