About the role
North Northamptonshire Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Asbestos Repairs & Maintenance Co-Ordinator (P402 or Equivalent Surveying Qualification, P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings Desired) to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
In this role, you will conduct asbestos surveys, produce site drawings, prepare reports (where necessary), update records/systems and have a strong understanding of Asbestos Legislation and Asbestos Materials to maintain legal and safety standards and provide support and guidance to others as necessary.
You must be IT competent (tablet-based data capture, report generation and record keeping).
You will be detail-oriented, able to work on own initiative and have a 'can do' attitude. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential.
Maintaining technical knowledge on asbestos and health and safety legislation, UKAS standards and industry best practices is required.
A full valid driving licence is essential.
What will you be doing?
As an Asbestos Repairs & Maintenance Co-Ordinator with North Northamptonshire Council, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Your role will involve working closely with internal teams, contractors and external partners to maintain high standards and effective service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out asbestos management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys, producing site drawings and detailed reports.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.
- Providing asbestos-related technical support to office staff, tradesmen and contractors.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Establishing strong relationships across departments, ensuring clear communication, and supporting service improvements to meet council and customer expectations.
This role requires strong organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively. You must be able to work independently while collaborating with others to deliver a safe and compliant service. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel across North Northamptonshire are essential for this role.
About you
We are looking for a detail-oriented and methodical Asbestos Repairs & Maintenance Co-Ordinator with strong technical knowledge and a commitment to compliance and safety.
You will have a P402 Surveying and Sampling for Asbestos in Buildings qualification (or equivalent) and a solid educational background, ideally to GCSE level or beyond. Desirable qualification - P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
Key skills and attributes:
- Technical proficiency – Strong knowledge of asbestos surveying, reporting, and compliance.
- IT skills – Experienced in use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Teams, tablet based data capture, and report generation.
