About the role

We are currently seeking a passionate and highly motivated Active Communities Officer to join our busy NN Leisure Active Communities Team. As the post holder you will be developing and managing opportunities across North Northamptonshire for residents to be more active and move more, across all ages and abilities.

You will be supporting with the delivery of the NNC Active Communities Strategy and programmes to encourage more North Northamptonshire residents to participate in physical activity, make positive lifestyle changes and create regular long-term participation to improve their health, mental and physical wellbeing.

What will you be doing?

Workstreams will include school term time and holiday programmes, sport and activity sessions, events, club development programmes, coaching and leadership schemes, and marketing and monitoring for these programmes. You will work alongside many different partners and foster strong relationships to achieve this, for example with Northamptonshire Sport, NGB’s, Local Clubs, Schools, Community Safety, Police, voluntary sector groups, local companies, diverse community groups etc.

You will ensure that all sessions and programmes comply with health and safety standards and that Safeguarding policies and procedures are robust and adhered to as the safety of all participants and staff will be paramount.

About you

In order to be considered for this role you'll have experience of organising and delivering sport and play sessions, hold a Level 4 or equivalent in Sport, Play or Health and at least hold one level 2 NGB coaching/instructing qualification. You will have an outgoing personality, be a team player and be able to work flexible hours as required for the needs of the business (e.g. ad hoc - early mornings, evenings, school holidays and occasional weekends for events) The Council operates a flexitime scheme and can offer a hybrid approach to working as the postholder will be able to work remotely for part of the working week around delivery and set office based days.     

Once appointed to the post, the Council will be able to offer support to the post holder to access further training in coach development, leadership tutoring and sport, play and health qualifications.
