About the role

NNC are seeking an Active Communities - Place Lead to deliver the new Sport England Place Based Expansion programme of work for North Northamptonshire. Working closely with Northamptonshire Sport and other partners, this project will be developed over 2 years and aim to make a real difference to inactivity levels by providing support to communities in two defined priority places within Corby and Wellingborough. The purpose of the role will be to engage with the county’s least active priority target groups using an asset based community development approach, gathering insight, increasing awareness, improving access, building capacity, and increasing opportunities for North Northamptonshire residents to participate in physical activity, make positive lifestyle changes and create regular long term participation to improve their health, mental and physical wellbeing.

What will you be doing?

The Place Lead will be required to work alongside other partners, build strong relationships with partners and communities to ensure efficient use of resources and a coordinated approach in developing local community and physical activity projects. The post holder will need to ensure that the programme meets all outcomes and that all activity complies with Health and Safety regulations and Safeguarding policies and procedures

Working with communities you will build capacity by identifying local volunteers, leaders, and champions; assessing their training and development needs, mentor and support them to become local activators to mobilise communities.

Develop and access external funding sources and resources to support the work in the priority places and develop a shared purpose and co-produce Local Place Action Plans and to link in with existing local organisations, initiatives and programmes.

The aims and outcomes will be developed with the funder Sport England / Northamptonshire Sport, and regular reporting and monitoring of programmes of work will be shared with these organisations and other partners.

About you

A successful track record of delivering and managing community engagement projects and programmes is essential along with the experience of applying for external funding, developing strong working relationships with statutory and non-statutory partners and the ability to produce and present high standard project monitoring reports to both internal and external partners.

The post holder must possess excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills, be flexible, positive and enthusiastic in their approach to tasks and be a team player.
