About the role

Looking for a new challenge in a dynamic service with the opportunity to obtain full training and development?

North Northamptonshire Council is the single unitary council responsible for providing a range of public services to residents in the areas of Corby, East Northants, Kettering, and Wellingborough.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated team player who is able to demonstrate a commitment to providing a high-quality customer service, with patience and a flexible approach. You will deal with all the daily duties of a small but busy administration team.
 The ability to work under pressure and with changing priorities, often to tight deadlines, will be an essential part of your daily routine and an eye for detail and excellent organisation skills are a must.

Applicants should have a high level of administrative experience, a minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above (or equivalent), be accurate and have at least one years’ experience in a clerical or admin role. You will need to be able to adapt quickly to change. A high level of computer literacy is essential, particularly relating to windows software packages.

What will you be doing?

Our Business Support officers provide essential support to our Revenue and Benefits teams, you will record correspondence, scan and index documents.

You will open, sort and distribute post and make basic amendments to customer accounts.

You’ll allocate payments and assist the billing and recovery team to ensure the effective billing and recovery of monies owed to the Council.

About you

You will be computer literate, with previous administrative experience. 

Your good communication skills will be essential.  You will have the ability to undertake complex calculations and collate information.

You should have 5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above.
