Then North Northamptonshire Council has a great opportunity for you to join us as one of two Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Engagement and Enforcement Officer within the Stronger & Safer Communities Team. The Safer Communities Team works to enhance residents' safety and well-being by addressing issues like anti-social behaviour and crime to help make North Northamptonshire a safer place to live, work and visit.
What will you be doing?
You will work as a member of the Safer Communities Team taking a co-ordinated and pro-active approach towards investigating Anti-Social behaviour and to enforce the terms of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) across North Northamptonshire.
You will work in partnership with the Safer Communities Team and local Policing Teams, as well as internal and external agencies/partners to reduce ASB and PSPO breaches by early intervention and collaborative working. This will include enforcing the terms of the PSPOs with Fixed Penalty Notices and prosecution where applicable.
As part of working alongside the Northamptonshire Police Neighbourhood Teams, you will patrol and engage with residents and communities across North Northamptonshire and provide a visible deterrent to ASB.
About you
We are looking to recruit two forward-thinking Anti-Social Behaviour Engagement & Enforcement Officers with drive, initiative and confidence. Reporting to the Senior Community Safety Officer, you will provide effective support to the tackling and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour across North Northamptonshire. This is a role which will require you to work with directorates throughout the Council and beyond, including Police and various support organisations.
As the successful candidate, you will bring:
- knowledge of anti-social behaviour legislation and procedures
- knowledge of general health and safety issues
- excellent organisational skills
- outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
- ability to deal with difficult conversations and resolve conflict
- ability to pursue an investigation with a view to taking appropriate action
- ability to patrol areas, working alone and within a team
It would also be nice for you to have:
- experience of dealing with people in a mediation role
- experience of use of enforcement powers
- experience of use of Office 365 (incl. Teams, OneDrive, etc.) or willingness to undertake training in relation to this
