About the role
North Northants Council’s Technology, Digital, and Data service is looking for a talented and dedicated application support officer to join our hard-working and ambitious team.
The team has big plans to be an inspirational local government IT service, and we need great people to help us achieve our goals.
Our customers have many varied service and customer-facing roles and rely on us to keep their technology working so they can continue to do the amazing work they do for the residents of North Northamptonshire.
The role will mean you will be one of the first points of contact for application support. Although a good knowledge of ICT and some experience of working in an technology environment is preferred, we are interested in people who are passionate about technology and customer service, who want to make a difference and who love to learn new skills and challenge themselves. If that sounds like you, do not hesitate to put in an application. It could just be the career you were looking for in local government.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for supporting and implementing key applications systems, specifically supporting revenues and benefits systems and social care systems.
You will liaise regularly with the users of these applications to promote best practices and undertake proactive research to develop, maintain and administer specific application systems.
You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, resolving users’ queries, and ensuring the smooth operation of our software products.
There will be a lot to learn, but we will give you the training you need and continue to support you as you gain confidence.
About you
We are looking for a dynamic individual committed to providing excellent application support across North Northamptonshire – with experience in supporting revenues and benefits systems being preferable. Any experience with social care systems would be desirable, as would knowledge of payment systems.
You will have excellent problem-solving and communication skills and be customer focused. In addition, you are accurate and pay attention to detail.
You will be self-motivated, organised, and able to work in a pressurised environment, as part of a team and on your own, managing competing priorities.
You will have a mature, methodical, and organised approach to work and take responsibility and ownership of tasks through to completion.
We value flexible working and work-life balance, and you will have opportunities to work from home when possible. However, you will also need to provide support to systems throughout the authority and may be required to work across North Northamptonshire, so having the ability to travel between sites is important.
Please complete our online application form referring to the attached job description and person specification.
