About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a person to join our team at North Northamptonshire Council . The successful applicants MUST HAVE A FULL UK Driving Licence and be able to drive a company van to and from different locations within NNC. Applicants must also have previous experience in all aspects of Arb works, possess NPTC competencies CS30,31,32,36,38,39,40,41, the ability to work at height and operate machinery safely.

The role is currently based out of the Kettering depot however the role may be deployed across the area of operations in Kettering, Wellingborough or Corby and the successful applicant may need to work out of any of these areas as a primary base

What will you be doing?

Duties will include


Utilising Arboriculture care equipment to perform tree care and maintenance across the Councils tree stock and other associated tasks within the expected remit of grounds maintenance provision 


To carry out all routine inspections of equipment prior to use and to ensure that equipment is clean, adequately greased, levels are topped up and maintained, stored and returned as directed


To adhere to the requirements of the Fleet division carrying out all operational inspections to vehicles as directed.


To identify works required and produce adequate work plans to ensure the safe/compliant delivery of arboriculture tasks, organising colleagues, directing tasks, monitoring and reporting on performance. To ensure policies and procedures are always adhered to whilst performing any tasks across the Council’s estate.


To lead on the operational delivery of the planting of trees in line with associated plans as directed. Ensuring that tree planting is carried out in accordance with prescribed methods and practices.


Conduct return to work, informal absence reviews and performance improvement planning where directed to ensure the day-to-day operational effectiveness of the Grounds Services functions are efficient and delivered in accordance with all Council policies and procedures. To develop and implement training plans for direct reports.


To supervise the delivery of the Council’s arboriculture functions.

About you

Candidates will require previous Arb experience and have extensive knowledge of arboriculture maintenance application in either the commercial or public sector


Extensive practical application in the principals of arboriculture equipment use


The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken and written English is essential for the post.

Level 2 qualification in arboriculture

Capacity to undertake physical aspects of the role including manual handling, walking long distances, using pedestrian equipment and working in all weather conditions.

Ability to work as part of a team to deliver objectives and standards across Council assets.

· You should have an interest in grounds maintenance or a willingness to learn new things 

· You should be willing to try your hand at other jobs within the service, as some flexibility would be desirable

FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE REQUIRED
