About the role
Do you have a passion for providing high quality services?
You will join our large benefits team who are responsible for the administration and assessment of benefits, ensuring that our residents are receiving the financial support they are entitled to, to pay their rent and council tax.
We work closely with colleagues across the service and external partners to ensure the most effective delivery of the service to our residents and maximise awards for our customers and support continuous improvement to the service. North Northamptonshire Council Offices are located in Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby and East Northamptonshire so you will have the option and may also be required to work from any of these offices.
The team currently work in a hybrid way, so there are opportunities to balance great face to face service, with the flexibility to work remotely.
What will you be doing?
You will be determining eligibility of claims for housing benefits in accordance with legislation and Council policy, ensuring any necessary documentary evidence is requested and verified.
You will also access claims for council tax support and ensure that decisions are provided to the customer.
You will use our systems to maintain accurate and up to date records of all claims and decisions.
You’ll provide advice to the public and deal with enquiries via phone, email and personal interviews
About you
You will have G.C.S.E English and Maths grade 4 or above with demonstrable experience and up to date knowledge and practice in the administration and processing of Housing Benefit claims and Council Tax support.
Your excellent communication skills and excellent eye for detail will be essential.
You will be able to use Microsoft packages and other bespoke systems.
You will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate calculations and assessments.
