About the role
This role is for internal candidates only - please apply ONLY if you work for North Northamptonshire Council.
Do you enjoy helping people solve problems and improve the way things work?
We're creating five secondment opportunities within our Business Analysis team to support our ambitious T20 transformation programme. These opportunities will run until 31st March 2027 and offer the chance to be part of some of the most important improvement work taking place across the organisation.
We're looking for colleagues who are great listeners, logical thinkers and natural collaborators; people who can work alongside services to understand challenges, uncover opportunities and help make positive change happen. Successful applicants will join a team with a growing pipeline of diagnostic reviews already underway, providing immediate opportunities to work on real service challenges and contribute to decisions that shape future transformation activity.
As part of the role, you'll work with managers, frontline colleagues and stakeholders to understand services, analyse demand, map processes, explore customer journeys, review data and identify opportunities for improvement. You'll help build the evidence that informs investment decisions, service redesign and transformation initiatives across the council.
If you're proactive, open-minded and motivated by making a difference, this is a chance to apply your strengths in a new way, develop valuable transferable skills and gain hands-on experience in business analysis, service improvement and organisational transformation.
Many of our analysts joined the team with little or no formal Business Analysis experience. What they shared was curiosity, strong people skills, a structured approach to problem solving and a desire to improve services for the benefit of residents and colleagues.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit an Expression of Interest via Recruitment Hub, outlining why you would like to join the team and highlighting any relevant skills, experience or achievements from your current or previous roles. Applications from colleagues at all levels of experience are welcomed and encouraged.

What will you be doing?
You will join a growing team at a time of high demand, working on real service challenges from day one. There is already a significant pipeline of diagnostic reviews awaiting support, giving successful candidates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of council services. Working alongside experienced Business Analysts and transformation professionals, you will help investigate issues, identify opportunities for improvement and develop the evidence base that informs investment and transformation decisions.
You will engage with managers, frontline staff and stakeholders to understand how services operate, analyse demand, map processes, explore customer journeys, assess workforce capacity, and review data, systems and performance information. Using a range of analytical techniques, you will help identify root causes rather than symptoms, ensuring recommendations are evidence-based and focused on delivering meaningful change.
A key part of the role will be translating complex information into clear findings, opportunities and options for improvement. Your work will contribute directly to helping senior leaders make informed decisions about where and how to invest in transformation activity.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are naturally curious, enjoy solving problems and want to develop their skills in business analysis, service improvement and transformation. Through mentoring, structured learning and hands-on experience, you will build the confidence and capability to undertake high-quality diagnostic work and support positive change across a wide range of council services.
About you
You don't need previous Business Analysis or transformation experience to be successful in this role. We're looking for people with the right mindset, behaviours and potential to learn.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Enjoy understanding how things work and asking thoughtful questions
- Are naturally curious and like getting to the root cause of problems
- Can listen to different perspectives and build positive working relationships
- Enjoy helping others find solutions and improve ways of working
- Are organised and able to work through information in a logical way
- Can spot patterns, connections or opportunities that others may miss
- Communicate clearly and confidently with a range of people
- Are open to learning new skills and trying new approaches
- Can work collaboratively while also taking ownership of your own work
- Are motivated by making a positive difference for residents, colleagues and services
Whether you're an experienced colleague looking for a new challenge, an aspiring leader wanting broader organisational experience, or someone with strong transferable skills and a passion for improvement, we'd love to hear from you.
Most importantly, we're looking for people who are enthusiastic, willing to learn and excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of services across the council.
