About the role
North Northamptonshire Council are looking to recruit a Casual Refuse & Recycling Driver.
You will be based out of the Robinson Way Depot in Kettering but could be working anywhere in Kettering, Corby or Wellingborough.
You will need to hold a C1 HGV licence, have experience driving refuse collection vehicles and ideally hold an up to date CPC.
You will work on an ad hoc basis, covering holiday and sickness as required.
Our operating hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 4:15pm
What will you be doing?
- Drive and be responsible for up to a 26 tonne refuse and recycling vehicle or a 7.5 tonne food pod, carrying out all necessary vehicle checks, keeping the vehicle clean and reporting any defects.
- Oversee the collection and return of waste containers from domestic and commercial properties, transporting an supervising the crew with the lead responsibility for the collection round.
- Dispose of collected waste at landfill or at a material recycling facility.
- Operate an in cab system to complete the round and report any on site issues.
- Fully comply with safe working practices and adhere to the Councils Safety Policy and safe working arrangements.
- Ensure the best standard of customer service is given to members of the public
- As a Driver Loader you will be required to undertake loader duties from time to time. This will involve collecting wheeled bins, plastic sacks, bulk trade or communal bins and any other duties associated with being a loader.
About you
You must be a reliable and productive person who can work well within a team. You will need an excellent level of safety awareness as you will be responsible for up to a 26 tonne vehicle and the safety of yourself, your crew mates and the general public.
As a front facing member of staff you will need to have a good level of communication skills, to assist the public with any questions about the service and to report any issues to the office staff.
