Data Analyst

Your differences make us different - #achievetogether

About the role

The Performance and Intelligence Team delivers high quality data and insights drawn from a wide range of sources. Our work enables effective analysis that informs, influences, and shapes policy making, strategic planning, and budget decisions across the Council.

As part of our ongoing development, we are focused on enhancing our business intelligence capabilities. This includes providing more proactive insights into demand patterns, service usage trends, and customer profiles, helping us better understand and support our residents in more efficient and impactful ways. We are also exploring the adoption of modern self-service analytics and visualization tools, such as Power BI, to empower services across the Council.

We’re looking for talented individuals to help drive this vision forward. If you’re passionate about data, innovation, and making a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

This role is key to delivering effective and proactive performance and intelligence management across a variety of Council services. You will ensure that both statutory and routine reporting requirements are consistently met to a high standard.

You will support the collection, processing, and provision of performance data, and play a vital role in analysing and interpreting this information to inform strategic planning and service improvement.

Working collaboratively with service managers, report developers, business analysts, IT teams, and the wider intelligence function, you will help ensure data is accurately collected, well-organised, and meaningfully interpreted. Your insights will directly support both operational and strategic decision-making, helping to drive better outcomes for our residents.

About you

Across all our roles, we value individuals who view the world through a data-driven lens—people who are proactive, self-motivated, curious, and confident in their approach to problem-solving. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders are essential.

For this specific position, we’re seeking someone with experience in collecting, analysing, and presenting data to a variety of audiences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in performance and business analysis.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience and skills in data analysis.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Power BI is highly desirable.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and present clear, insightful reports and documents.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Have experience in a local authority setting or in performance monitoring.
  • Be well-organised and able to manage their own workload effectively.

This role is primarily home-based, with the expectation to attend Council offices as required for meetings or collaborative work.

Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
