About the role

We are currently looking to recruit Driver Orderlies within the Street Cleansing team working . We are keen to attract applicants with a positive can do attitude and a passion for raising standards of cleanliness throughout all of North Northants.

The successful candidate will be working within a team delivering front line services, the role is physically demanding and working in all weather conditions, the role requires some flexibility as weekend working rota could be required.

The fortunate applicant will be required to have a full driving license and be required to drive a variety of vehicles including  4.5 tonne caged tippers, tail lifts and Luton box vans.In addition to driving the role will require collection of  unauthorised fly tipping, fly posting, emptying public litter bins, removal of litter and dirt from public spaces, domestic bin deliveries, collection of Bulky items and any other cleansing requirements.

Working hours consist of Monday - Thursday 7am - 3pm, Friday 7am -2.30pm

What will you be doing?

1. To drive and be responsible for allocated vehicles.
2. Undertaking duties all duties within the St Cleansing department emptying of
litter bins, sweeping, collection and removal of litter, unauthorised fly tipping,
removal of dirt, leaves and weeds from public spaces (including roads, paths
and shopping precincts) and collection / disposal of clinical waste, delivery of
bins, collection of Bulky items.
3. To dispose of sweepings, litter, clinical waste etc. were directed to do so by
Supervisors.
4. Driving duties include 3.5t Caged tipper vans, 3.5t tail lifts and Luton box vans 
5. Some tasks may be on scheduled frequencies, some may be assigned as
they occur and as the Cleansing Manager instructs.
6. To comply with the safe working practices and adhere to the Council’s
Safety Policy according to the issued safe working arrangements.
7. To comply with instructions for drivers of Council vehicles.

8. Ensuring the best operational relationships between the service and
members of the public.
9. To carry out additional duties from time to time as instructed by the Manager
or Supervisor.

About you

Relevant experience - 2 years minimum driving. Knowledge of streets within the Borough

Education and Training - Safety awareness training, basic mechanical knowledge 

Special Knowledge and skills - Full Driving license, Amenable to outdoor weathers, Physically fit  

Additional factors - Flexible and Reliable, available for weekend overtime
