About the role

To assist the Principal Surveyorwith the transitioning service within Operations from legacy council management to corporate management service.

 

To work within the Operations Team in helping to co-ordinate taking on additional sites as part of the corporate landlord transition.

 

To provide an effective Estates Inspection regime across the Councils varied property estate throughout North Northamptonshire, to underpin the delivery of public services to the residents of North Northamptonshire whilst ensuring that risks are evaluated and managed to safeguard building occupants and users. 

  

Assist in the delivery of the inspection regime service for assets such as closed churchyards, scheduled monuments, non-functioning estate, art installations, to name but a few.

 

As an Estate Officer/Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting Operations to manage Council’s diverse portfolio, ensuring effective inspection regimes with associated remedial actions

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of estate inspections  including inspections of closed churchyards, art installations, scheduled monuments and other assets as directed by your line manager
  • Conducting site visits to inspect the assets detailed above and take complete detailed inspection records.
  • Providing technical advice on recommended remedial works.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant laws and industry developments to ensure best practices in estate management.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of accurate records, and supporting site visits when needed.
  • Provide professional support to, and work with the other teams members and Manager, including the Head of Service to develop strategies and plans that identify and recommend improvements that transform service delivery to ensure long term management of the service is sustainable in terms of meeting legislative obligations, financial constraints and key performance targets

What will you be doing?

About you

We’re looking for a proactive Estate Officer/Surveyor with the skills and knowledge to support effective operational asset management. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good standard of education with continuing professional development in property or surveying.
  • Trainee RICS Membership or willingness to train towards accreditation.
  • Experience in a wide range of asset inspections.
  • Report writing and IT skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including presenting information and writing business reports

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team, with awareness of public sector property and equal opportunities.
