About the role
North Northamptonshire Council is excited to offer three key opportunities for Family Hubs Reception & Customer Support Officers. These frontline roles are essential in shaping the first impressions of our Family Hubs and driving forward our Family Hub Offer —supporting families from pregnancy through to age 19 (or 25 for those with SEND).
Our Family Hubs serve as vital community spaces, offering access to a wide range of services including education, mental health support, and physical health resources—with Start for Life at the heart of it all. As one of the first faces families see when they visit, you’ll be working in a fast-paced, supportive environment covering reception duties and assisting the team.
Post 1: Kettering Family Hub
Post 2: Wellingborough Family Hub
Post 3: East Northants Family Hub (Oundle)
What will you be doing?
Working Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, you’ll be the welcoming presence at the heart of the Family Hub. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include greeting families, carers, and visitors warmly and professionally, while managing general reception duties such as handling room bookings and ordering supplies.
You’ll also play an important role behind the scenes—monitoring shared inboxes, updating accurate records with full confidentiality, and providing admin support to help the team plan and promote a wide variety of hub activities. This will include creating engaging promotional materials and supporting with social media updates, ensuring all information is accessible and inclusive for families.
About you
As the first point of contact for families and partners, you’ll represent the values and vision of the Family Hubs. You’ll be confident in introducing people to the services and opportunities available and play a key part in encouraging community engagement.
We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised, and professional—with strong admin skills and a genuine passion for helping others. You’ll need to be comfortable communicating with people from all walks of life and able to thrive in a busy, community-focused setting.
