About the role
Are you a talented and enthusiastic AAT qualified or part qualified CCAB accountant?
You will be responsible for supporting the Closedown function, whilst also supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner in the effective management and control of the balance sheet and the production of the Statement of Accounts with focus on strong financial governance.

What will you be doing?
You will support the Senior Finance Business Partner in relation to the Accountancy function which includes:
- The closedown, production and audit of Council’s financial statements
- compiling working papers, reviewing processes and timescales to enable deadlines to be met.
- Supporting financial governance across the council by ensuring controls are in place and are being effectively maintained.
- Management of the Council’s finance asset register including calculating and recording valuation movements, depreciation, acquisitions and disposals.
- Supporting the balance sheet monitoring, reconciliations and reporting.
About you
You will be CCAB part qualified /AAT qualified /equivalent or have significant financial experience with an understanding of how local government works including the complexities and challenges it faces.
You’ll be enthusiastic, innovative and driven with up-to-date knowledge of accounting policy such as IFRS, CIPFA codes of practice.
You be able to demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with key stakeholders including internal and external auditors, be driven and have initiative and confidence.
You will be experienced in analysing and addressing complex issues.
