About the role
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Garage Management Co-ordinator to join our Housing Management Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the management of garage sites across North Northamptonshire Council's housing stock. Reporting to the Housing Services Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the letting, administration, maintenance and income collection of council-owned garages, ensuring customers receive a high-quality service and that garage sites are safe, well-managed and fully utilised.
Working closely with Housing Assistants, Estate Caretakers, Property Services and neighbourhood teams, you will help maximise occupancy levels, reduce arrears, improve customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to enhance or repurpose garage sites for future community benefit.
This is a varied role that combines customer service, administration, income management, estate inspections and partnership working, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with people while delivering practical solutions and improvements.
What will you be doing?
As Garage Management Co-ordinator you will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the allocation, letting and termination of garage licences across the council's housing stock.
- Managing garage voids, ensuring garages are inspected, maintained and ready for reletting as quickly as possible.
- Undertaking licence sign-ups, identity checks and maintaining accurate customer records on housing management systems.
- Monitoring garage income, managing arrears cases, agreeing repayment arrangements and progressing Stage 3 income recovery actions, including notices and evictions where required.
- Raising work orders and coordinating repairs, maintenance and lock changes with Property Services and Estate Caretakers.
- Carrying out garage site inspections and helping to improve the appearance, safety and condition of garage areas.
- Responding to customer enquiries, concerns and complaints, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Working with neighbourhood teams, residents and partner agencies to address anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and other site-related issues.
- Producing performance information and supporting service improvement initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Identifying underused garage sites and exploring opportunities for redevelopment, additional parking provision or alternative uses that benefit local communities.
- Supporting community engagement activities, estate walkabouts and tenant involvement events.
