About the role

"North Northants Council Technology Service needs you" ...... We're recruiting for an M365 Platform Engineer to support the organisation to meet its commitment to "Smarter Faster Fairer Public Services".

As a dedicated M365 Platform Engineer you will work as part of the wider technology service to develop and support our critical M365 tenant.

Core to your role is to support our colleagues to get maximum benefit from the investment we make into this service and to ensure it stays secure and well maintained.

You will work as part a group of skilled engineers to build on this toolset and ensure we are staying in-line with best practice, leveraging every part of the environment to benefit the organisation. You will drive new functionality and be engaged directly with Microsoft and other 3rd parties to ensure the environment evolves and continuously improves.     

Although we need someone with a base knowledge of the Microsoft M365 stack we fully recognise the need to support you on your journey to develop and hone your skills, we will give you the opportunities to learn as you go and become fully skilled.

What will you be doing?

You'll join the technology team and be responsible for developing and supporting our M365 platform to support Smarter Faster working.

As part of a team made up of skilled technologists from across the service, you will act as a subject mater expert on the M365 Tenant and be responsible for ensuring it remains secure and well maintained at all times.

On a day-day basis you will be a subject matter expert and act as a 3rd line escalation point for end user support around the M365 platform. You will also work as part of a dedicated team to support larger projects and iterative agile developments which need your specific skills and knowledge. 

As an SME in the M365 space you will work with internal teams, partners and Microsoft to ensure we are following best practice, adopting new features and that colleague engagement is as high as possible. 

Maximising value in our investments and innovating through technology are key goals in our on-going strategy, and this role is pivotal to helping us achieve this.  

About you

Essential:

  • Your background will be technical in nature with a technology based degree or equivalent industry experience/certifications  
  • There must be a demonstrable level of experience around supporting the Microsoft M365 suite,  Ideally 2 years +
  • Significant knowledge of supporting Microsoft Entra and Teams 
  • Experience working in both project and user based support environments
  • You will need to be a motivated self-starter with the desire to learn and develop on the job 
  • Be comfortable working at different levels of an organisation and be able to translate complex technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience operating in a dedicated M365 support team

  • Direct involvement in project relating to building enterprise Teams/SharePoint file storage structures and migrating from traditional file storage
  • Demonstrable experience working with Co-Pilot Agents and/or Microsoft Power Apps

  • Any experience working as part of sprint teams and following Agile practices

  • Any Microsoft based certifications e.g:

    • M365 Certified Administrator Expert
    • M365 Certified Endpoint Administrator
    • M365 Certified Teams Administrator
    • Certified Power Platform Solution Architect
  • Any experience managing the M365 data governance controls e.g data loss prevention, sensitivity labels, document tagging and conditional access.
  • Experience working in central or local government settings
