Newly Qualified Social Worker & Qualified Social Worker (x 2) (Safeguarding Team)

Your differences make us different - #achievetogether

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and committed social work practitioners, to join the Safeguarding Adults Team in North Northamptonshire Council.

The posts are grade 6 for Newly Qualified Social Workers moving to grade 7 on successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment or Grade 7 for those who have completed their ASYE.

For NQSWs, we will support you through your first year of practice developing your experience, skills, and confidence as a practitioner, giving you a great start in your Social Work career.

You will be part of a team that triages safeguarding concerns which identifies the alleged source of risk as a provider or a paid professional within that setting, ensuring Making Safeguarding Personal and Safeguarding Principles are maintained and that the adult is central to all that you do.

Professional curiosity is key; the role requires you to undertake safeguarding enquires, whilst maintaining people’s choice and control, empowering adults within a risk enablement and strengths-based approach.

Please be aware that North Northants Council cannot employ people on a Sponsorship.

What will you be doing?

You will be working in line with key legislation such as the Care Act 2014 and frameworks such as NSAB Decision Making Framework Tool.  You will be expected to work with internal and external partners in order to gather information and assess ongoing risk.

The role uses a person-centred approach which includes getting the voice of the person, listening and adopting professional curiosity to your practice.

The Safeguarding Provider Team receive referrals from the general public, other professionals, the individuals themselves and/or their representatives.  The concerns we receive are solely when the source of risk has been identified as a service or organisation.  This is initially screened by our duty workers (which you would be a part of) making initial enquiries in order to establish whether Section 42 enquiry is required or not.  Completing Section's 42 and carrying out visits is also a task that you would undertake (under supervision).

About you

You should have knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, an understanding of the principles of safeguarding, the NSAB decision making framework, the policies and procedures of safeguarding and their application to practice: to keep people safe, support them to achieve their identified outcomes and to live free from abuse and neglect.

You can expect great management support and the opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic team that works closely together with key partners in health and other agencies to make a clear positive difference to some of our most vulnerable citizens.

Where you will be working

The team is based in Kettering, but the Council has a flexible working policy and supports hybrid and home working options. The ability to travel between sites across North Northamptonshire is essential to this post.

There is an expectation for you to be in the office at least once a week.
