About the role
We are looking for a customer-focused and hard-working individual to join our small team on a part-time basis working for 3 full days per week (to be discussed at interview).
Our team – the Personal Budgets Support Service - delivers a wide range of financial support and advice to disabled people receiving Direct Payments in North Northamptonshire.
Our customers rely on us to supply them with timely information, documents and support on a weekly basis, so much of the work is deadline driven and vital to people who use our services.
The role will mean that you will be the first point of contact for people who use PBSS as a payroll provider. Although some knowledge of payroll and experience of working in a finance-based environment is preferred, we are very interested in people who are passionate about customer service and happy to learn new skills. If that sounds like you, don’t hesitate to put in an application. It could just be the career you are looking for in local government.
What will you be doing?
You will be working within our small and very busy team based in Haylock House in Kettering
Many of our customers operate as employers and will rely on you to supply them with all the payroll information that they need, so you will be working with colleagues to calculate wages, tax and pensions and to submit payroll information to HMRC using our bespoke payroll systems.
You will also be involved in providing support around a range of other financial services so there will be a real mixture of work to keep you busy.
There will be a lot to learn, but we will give you the training that you need and continue to support you as you develop your skills.
About you
We are looking for someone committed to providing exceptional customer service. You will possess excellent communication skills, be someone with who pays attention to detail and is thorough and accurate in your approach to work.
Used to working with financial systems, you will be methodical, organised, able to work to deadlines both as part of a team and on your own and with the ability to prioritise work. You will also be confident in using IT at work.
We value flexible working and work-life balance, and you will have opportunities to work from home whenever appropriate.
However, this role is customer-focused, so you will also spend time working alongside team members at our Haylock House offices in Kettering where all of your initial training will take place.
