Level 1 £27,852 – £29,439 per annum

Level 2 £30,151- £32,020 per annum

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our busy Private Sector Housing team at North Northants Council.

This is a career graded post and you will be working as a Private Sector Housing Officer, responsible for investigating complaints and providing technical and specialist advice on substandard housing conditions in the private sector.  You will carry out house condition surveys and inspections, making assessments under the Housing Health & Safety Rating System, and taking appropriate action to address issues through negotiation, enforcement, and ensuring properties meet minimum health and safety and energy efficiency standards.

What will you be doing?

You will carry out proactive work to identify and investigate Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and issue mandatory licences on receipt of a valid HMO application. The role will also include carrying out annual inspections of all licensed HMOs across the area and ensuring that all licence conditions are adhered to.

Other responsibilities include gathering evidence and preparing case files for prosecution against landlords who have both failed to comply with disrepair notices or illegally evicted their tenants.
