About the role
CURRENTLY THIS JOB IS FOR NNC EMPLOYEES ONLY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY A COUNCIL EMPLOYEE
We are looking for a skilled Agile Project Manager to join the Technology and Digital Service on an permanent basis to support our development teams and product road mapping ambitions.
This is an amazing opportunity to support the Technology and Digital Service as we strive to mature our delivery model.
We need to enable a more agile and collaborative service with the ability to react to the organisations changing needs and deliver value as quickly as possible.
We are fully focussed on delivering on the Technology and Digital Strategy, and need to build robust agile processes to support our innovation and productivity agenda, this role will be pivotal in developing and embedding these processes across our service.
In addition to the core agile process development, we are looking for someone that has a technology focus and who would like to expand their skillsets and support our Apps service in the development of our "Product Ownership and Road mapping" model, this is an exciting part of the "Technology and Digital Offer" and is essential to support our core services in maximising efficiencies from the tools that we invest in.
What will you be doing?
The role will overlap between our Apps and Digital teams, time will be split between the day to day responsibilities of agile project management and a more strategic role around establishing our Product Ownership approach.
Day-Day:
- Work with our Digital Relationship Leads to manage the inbound pipeline of work
- Act as the Scrum Master and support the Sprint Teams to prioritise their workload
- Link with wider parts of the service to co-ordinate requirements and resources as needed by the sprint teams to deliver their assigned tasks
- Work with the wider teams to look at the way we handle "work" which falls outside the day-day support work. Each team needs a modified "sprint" type process to enable it to support the different types of work we do which goes beyond "support"
- Support any new "projects" as they arrive into the service that requires agile project management
Planning:
- Develop our Agile process to fit the needs of the service
- Support the scrum teams to become self-managing and more efficient
- Support our Apps Team to develop its "Product Ownership" model
- Help our Apps Team to develop RACI models for each of the core case management systems across services such as Children's, Adults, Housing, Revs and Bens etc.
- Begin to plan "product roadmaps" and development cycles for each of the core case management systems
About you
You will need to be an experienced Agile Project manager with a history of delivering both large complex projects as well as manage delivery of pipelines delivering short pieces of development work.
We need you to be rooted in technology project delivery and have a genuine interest in the work that you are doing. You need to be able to talk tech with our technologists, and then switch back to project mode when you're engaging outside of the service.
As our agile SME we need you to help us develop our core processes, drive work out of the door and support colleagues who may have no agile experience to become fully aware.
This role will need someone willing to move beyond their existing Project Management remit and use their understanding of agile principles and the importance of stakeholder feedback loops, to help us build out our "shared product ownership" model which will completely re-define the way we have traditionally managed these critical systems.
