We are looking to recruit a Public Health Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract, to join our friendly and forward-thinking Public Health team at North Northamptonshire Council. Working within our dynamic, knowledgeable, and diverse team, you will play a key role in enhancing the health of our residents through prevention, early intervention, and health improvement initiatives.

This role offers a valuable opportunity to support the implementation of evidence-based public health programs and interventions aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities.

The post is a fixed term appointment for a 12-month period.

What will you be doing?

As Public Health Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of health improvement programmes across a range of areas. This will involve planning and managing key public health projects aligned with local and national priorities. You will monitor changing guidance and use an evidence-based approach to review practice, focused on improving health outcomes for residents and reducing health inequalities. Additionally, you'll support health improvement initiatives through engaging stakeholders across North Northamptonshire.

You will report to the Public Health Practitioner and will work across the Adult Health Improvement Portfolio to support the team and organisation in achieving the desired outcomes.

About you

We are looking for a passionate individual who is experienced in public health and understands working in NHS or local government cultures and structures. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across a network of settings. Within these relationships, you will need to have effective interpersonal and influencing skills and represent Public Health and the values of the team. You will excel at presenting complex information clearly and engagingly to diverse groups.
