About the role
The Performance and Intelligence Team provides high quality data and intelligence from a diverse range of data sets to execute effective data analysis to inform, influence and shape policy making, strategy development and budget planning for the Council.
Our development plans include providing more proactive business intelligence, by being able to report on demand patterns, service utilisation trends and customer profiling, to identify ways of supporting our residents better and more efficiently. We are also exploring the implementation of modern self-service visualisation and analytics across the Council’s services.
We need a Report Developer to join our team to support with extracting data and building datasets for visualisation and analysis.
What will you be doing?
This post engineers the extraction of data from line of business and case management systems to support the wider delivery of performance and intelligence information to services. This could be across many of the different services we deliver in a modern unitary council - from adult social care, to special educational needs and disabilities, to housing provision and many others too.
The role works closely with performance analysts, business analysts, IT and services, and will work on efforts to develop new data flow and pipelines to transform our data provision to make use of more automated and modern platforms.
About you
In all our roles, we are looking for colleagues who see the world through a data lens, are proactive, self-managing, curious and have a self-reliant approach to problem solving. Good communication and strong client facing skills are also a prerequisite.
In this role specifically, strong technical skills in common database standards and software such as SQL, Business Objects, Oracle, Crystal are essential. Skills developing data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources, and self-service platforms with other tools such as SSRS, Power BI or Tableau and deploying to users, are also important.
Experience of local government or public sector in general would be beneficial.
If you are interested in any of the roles but would like an informal conversation before applying then please contact Tom Barden, tom.barden@northnorthants.gov.uk. Interviews will be held in early January.
