About the role

The role is SEND Brokerage Officer in the Commissioning Team (x 2).

We are looking for two SEND Brokerage Officers, with a real passion for making a difference and supporting the lives of the most vulnerable in our society. You will: 

  • Broker and place school and care packages within the prescribed timeframes, budget and quality. 
  • Provide support, advice and information to SEND managers, schools and other professionals. Seek innovative and imaginative solutions for children with a variety of complex needs. • Ensure robust and compliant contractual arrangements are in place for all commissioned services and deliver value for money through negotiation with providers. 
  • Support the development of our commissioning offer

What will you be doing?

The SEND Brokerage Officer has responsibility for sourcing and procuring support packages to support children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs. This will predominantly be

1) Identifying school placements from the independent and non-maintained sector (day and residential). The scope of services commissioned will grow and could include alternative provision; short breaks; domiciliary care and early help support services to support local schools to support children with complex needs.

2) Providing headteachers and educational professionals with information, advice and guidance about support services that can support children and young people with special educational needs

About you

We are looking to recruit a highly experienced professional with an excellent knowledge of the SEND sector, and the complexities that can be faced when providing support. You will need to have a good understanding of SEND and relevant legislation, and ideally have a very good understanding of Education, Health, and Care Plans. You need to be solution focussed and be able to manage a changing workload. You will need to have excellent communication skills and have experience of building good working relationships. You must be able to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
