About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Application Support Officer with GIS (Geographic Information System) experience to be part of our technology, digital, and data service on a temporary basis.  

The team is currently rolling out a new cloud-based GIS solution, providing a unique opportunity to play a significant role in the system's development and support. 

What will you be doing?

You will have a crucial role in implementing the GIS system and leading the consolidation and rationalisation of spatial data throughout the council.  

Your responsibilities will include maintaining open lines of communication with application users to promote best practices and collaborating with other members of the ICT team to implement, support, and develop GIS applications.  

Also, you will supervise the workload of the application support officers within the team. 

About you

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in managing and developing corporate GIS systems and a deep understanding of the ESRI and IDOX uniform suites. 

You should also have experience in defining and managing data sets, including knowledge of metadata principles and their application in GIS.  

Knowledge of BS7666 and street naming principles would be an additional advantage. 

The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical for this role. 

You should be self-motivated, organised, and capable of working effectively in time-critical environments.  

Additionally, you should be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, effectively managing competing priorities and the team's workload.
