About the role

Are you a talented and enthusiastic CCAB qualified accountant?

You will join our finance management team and contribute to the overall strategic and operational management of the finance division.

You’ll will be able to put in practice your wide range of finance skills and business acumen to shape our finances to assist in the delivery of our corporate priorities, which help us develop excellent services for our residents.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be providing high quality financial support to Executive Directors, Assistant Directors and Service Managers. This is a high-profile role and requires good management skills to ensure finance services provided are professional and customer focused.  

You will be responsible for managing the capital accounting function, leading on the co-ordination and overall management of the capital programme and its funding, supporting key strategic capital projects and providing advice on capital expenditure across the authority.

You will also be involved in the year end close down and budget setting process for both the Capital Strategy and feeding into the Treasury Strategy.  

About you

You’ll be CCAB qualified with the commitment and evidence of ongoing professional development, with up to date knowledge of accountancy policy, such as IFRS/CIPFA codes of practices and taxation.

Your experience of staff leadership and management enable you to inspire and motive your team and generate a positive working environment.

You’ll have the ability to communicate complex financial issues to non-financial managers and external organisations.

Your understanding of local government , including the specific complexities, major influences and challenges it faces will be essential.
