An exciting opportunity has arisen within North Northamptonshire Council’s Country Parks Service area for a Shop Supervisor based at East Carlton Country Park .  This role will focus on developing the Woodland Shop and extending the retail opportunities across all North Northamptonshire Council managed country parks. The role will entail serving Woodland Shop customers, checking stock levels, ordering and rotating stock. Complying with cash handling and safety regulations.

This will include maintaining strong relationships with customers, colleagues, suppliers and contractors.

You will work closely with the Parks Commercial Development Officer and wider country park teams to provide a high quality retail offering that compliments other services within the country parks. 

This is a dynamic and varied role where you will provide advice on produce, goods and plants. You will also contribute to service development, performance monitoring, and the delivery of innovative initiatives that support the delivery of the councils corporate plan.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and negotiation skills, a good understanding of retail, and the ability to work collaboratively and proactively in a busy environment.

The role will require the post holder to operate across the North Northamptonshire area.

What will you be doing?

Principal responsibilities

 

  1. To greet customers within the shops of the Country Parks and Woodlands, dealing with basic enquiries and offering assistance where required. 
  2. To ensure stock levels are maintained and rotated as necessary
  3. To support with plant sales and ensuring plants are displayed during all opening hours 
  4. To be compliant with cash handling and end of day cash reconciliation procedures
  5. To ensure levels of cleanliness in the shop and providing excellent customer service
  6. To take payment for goods and ensure accuracy of transactions.
  7. Ensure that reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of all users, and to comply with all relevant policies and procedures relating to the health and safety. 

About you

Essential Skills and qualifications 

GCSE English and Math's, or equivalent

Extensive experience in working in a retail environment 

Front of house experience 

Experience in stock ordering and rotation 

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken and written English is essential for the post.  

Excellent customer service skills 

To be presentable, reliable and flexible 

Capacity to undertake physical aspects of the role including manual handling, standing for long periods of time and fine dexterity skills. 

Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.

Working knowledge of Country Parks and Woodlands 

Experience in a supervisory role
