About the role
(INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY )
We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused colleague to join our team delivering money and debt advice to residents of North Northamptonshire.
The role will be based initially at Kettering offices and will involve assisting our most vulnerable customers across the North, you will also help deliver Discretionary Housing Payments for the Kettering, East and Wellingborough Area and Section 13a awards across the North.
Candidates should have excellent communication and customer service skills and a knowledge of benefits and debt advice, however full training will be given as required.
Whilst the substantive role is full-time, part-time hours will be considered, subject to the agreement of management. If you wish part time hours to be considered, please outline the hours you are considering.

What will you be doing?
To increase financial awareness and give budgeting support within North Northamptonshire. Consulting and liaising with internal and external partners. Attending consultation meetings on behalf of the Benefits Team.
About you
- English and Maths GCSE grade C or above / proven literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience within Housing Benefits, customer service or debt and money advice.
- Good verbal (fluent English) and written communication skills with the ability to support and negotiate with customers, landlords and stakeholders in a calm, sensitive way in difficult situations.
- Proven ability to work on own initiative with the minimum of supervision and to use own discretion and judgement.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Demonstrate excellent budgeting skills
- Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.
- Computer literate.
- Driving Licence and use of car.
