About the role
To undertake mechanical sweeping duties within the Wellingborough area in accordance with the requirements of NNC Street Cleansing services.
What will you be doing?
- To drive and be responsible for allocated vehicles.
- To dispose of sweepings, litter etc where directed to do so by the Cleansing Manager.
- Driving duties include driving and operating of mechanised road sweepers, and transit pick-ups
- Mechanical sweeping duties will be undertaken on a pre-determined scheduled route and as directed by the Cleansing Manager.
- To comply with safe working practices and adhere to the Council’s Safety Policy according to the issued safe working arrangements.
- To comply with standing instructions for drivers of Council vehicles.
- Undertaking duties concerned with the emptying of litter and dog bins, sweeping, collection and removal of litter, unauthorised tipping, dirt, leaves and weeds from public spaces (including roads, paths and shopping precincts).
- Ensuring the best operational relationships between the service and members of the public.
- To carry out additional duties from time to time as instructed by the Cleansing Manager and Supervisor.
About you
Knowledge of streets within the area of operation
2 years minimum driving experience of driving.
Must be familiar with manual work and lifting practices.
