About the role
We are expanding our Learner Support Team within the Northamptonshire Adult Learning Service and are looking for motivated individuals to fulfil various roles as a Teaching Assistant - Learner Support.
The Adult Learning Service operates across the county providing opportunities for adults to get involved in learning in the community. We offer, through a range of programme areas, the chance to learn (or re-learn) skills to enter, return, or progress in employment, training, education, or volunteering, including a programme specifically for 16–18 year-olds.
What will you be doing?
There are various opportunities within our range of programmes and work will be allocated based on your availability, current skill level, or subject knowledge as appropriate. The requirements of the role are often as a general classroom assistant, or it can involve working on a 1:1 basis with learners who have requested support due to a disclosed disability or identified an additional learning need such as dyslexia or dyspraxia, or those who require support for a long-term health condition.
In addition, we currently have a priority short-term vacancy within the Study Programme based in Kettering, requiring support over 3 days (Mon-Weds). This role could be offered on a job-share basis and involves working alongside young people/ young adults aged 16-18 who are not in full-time education, employment, or training, some of whom have individual support needs and may be anxious about studying in larger group settings. The programme offers a personalised approach to learning and aims to inspire confidence in achieving next steps by overcoming barriers to learning. For this post, you will need to demonstrate specific experience in successfully supporting young people/ young adults to achieve their goals.
For all roles, it is essential you have a person-centred approach to all learners, and previous experience of working with adults with disabilities will be of great advantage. You will need excellent communication skills; and the ability to adapt, problem solve, and support learners to a high standard is essential. Flexibility in working patterns which may include evenings and weekends is required.
Full training and mentoring will be given to the successful applicants.
