About the role

We are seeking a Workshop Operative to join the Housing Property Services Team responsible for delivering the repair and maintenance service for the Council’s 8,000+ tenants. 

You will be based out of the Council's Depot Workshop on Robinson Way, Kettering, undertaking carpentry/joinery work for repair and refurbishment to the Council’s Housing stock and other areas of the Council buildings as required.

You will be committed to providing excellent customer service – being responsive, flexible, and dedicated to ‘getting it right first time’. You will need to show a dedication to being your best at all times – being professional, pro-active and open to new ways of working. An enthusiasm for team working – being collaborative, innovative and showing support and respect for colleagues is also essential.

What will you be doing?

You will be undertaking carpentry/joinery works for the repair and refurbishment work to the Council’s Housing stock and other areas of the council as required. You will carry out works as per works orders specifications, recording appropriate schedule of rates. You will be fully competent and qualified in the use of workshop machines and assist with the cleaning and maintenance of machines.

Where required you will visit sites to plan jobs and return to install, ensuing a start to finish service for the customer. On occasion assisting with the delivering of goods and materials to operatives on site as required to improve productivity.

About you

You will have a City & Guilds Craft or NVQ Level 2, with Carpentry / Joinery experience both on site and in a workshop environment.

You will have a full driving licence
