About the role

North Northamptonshire Council - NN Leisure team are looking to appoint 2 x Active Communities Workers who will join our Active Families team. The 2 year programme will support more North Northamptonshire residents to participate in physical activity, make positive lifestyles changes and encourage regular long-term participation to improve their health, mental and physical wellbeing. The project will deliver a varied activity programme across North Northamptonshire that meet the needs of families on their doorstep, ensuring that residents of all ages have the opportunity to try new activities and sports, move more and live healthier lifestyles. 

The posts available are advertised as part time posts, however a full time position can be considered. 

As part of the NN Leisure - Active Families team, we can offer you further training in Health and Safety, Equality, First Aid, Safeguarding and other NGB qualifications as required.       

What will you be doing?

Working as part of the NN Leisure Active Families Team, you will be delivering a range of fun and engaging sport and activity programmes for families and residents in North Northamptonshire. The programme with deliver a variety of different sports, exercise and play activities for which you will either be the lead coach/instructor or be the support for other team members. There will also be a requirement to delivery and support the management of the annual large scale Active Families Fundays events, which are held during the summer months.  

You will also have the opportunity to assist the Active Communities Team with the delivery of Sportsleaders courses and other training development sessions, supporting community learners and volunteers. 

Candidates will also be required to support with admin and the development of evaluation reports for the Active Families project. This will be around the coaching and delivery of sessions and programmes.

About you

The successful candidates will already hold at least one qualification in any play, sport or exercise based learning at Level 2 or above (i.e. Play leader, NGB, ETM, Personal Instructor etc). Applicants must also have experience of coaching/instructing and delivering sessions to a variety of age groups and have adapted sessions for all abilities. We are looking for a model activity leader or coach who can not only work well as part of a team but is confident, outgoing, passionate and makes their sessions fun and exciting as well as progressive and educational.

Candidates will also need to be able to travel to various locations across Northamptonshire in Corby, Kettering, East Northants and Wellingborough and be prepared to work early evenings and possibly weekends, therefore we require candidates to be able to be flexible in their working hours.
