Care and Support Assistant

Your differences make us different - #achievetogether

About the role

Are you a caring, compassionate and enthusiastic person who wants to make a genuine difference to people's lives?

At Ashgrove Day Centre in Rushden, we support adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) to live meaningful, active and fulfilling lives. Every day is different, and you will play an important role in helping people access activities, develop relationships, maintain their wellbeing and enjoy positive experiences both within the centre and out in the community.

This is an incredibly rewarding role where you will build meaningful connections and directly contribute to improving the quality of life of the people we support.

Whilst rewarding, this role is also physically and emotionally demanding. You will be supporting people with complex physical, communication and health needs, providing personal care, assisting with mobility, using specialist equipment and supporting individuals who rely heavily on others to meet their daily needs.

If you are resilient, caring, patient and passionate about helping others reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

As a Care & Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support individuals to participate in meaningful activities both within the Day Centre and in community settings.
  • Deliver person-centred care and support tailored to individual needs, preferences and aspirations.
  • Assist with all aspects of personal care and daily living activities.
  • Support people with mobility, positioning and postural management using appropriate equipment and training.
  • Promote communication and engagement using a variety of communication methods.
  • Support individuals with their health needs in line with professional guidance and care plans.
  • Encourage independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing.
  • Complete accurate records and documentation.
  • Work closely with colleagues, families and health professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is kind, compassionate and committed to providing high-quality care.
  • Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative.
  • Is flexible and willing to work across different services when required.
  • Brings enthusiasm, creativity and a positive attitude to supporting activities and sessions.
  • Is able to respond calmly and professionally in challenging situations.
  • Has an understanding of dignity, respect, equality and person-centred support.

Previous care experience is welcomed but is not essential. We are committed to developing our staff and will provide comprehensive induction, training and ongoing support to help you succeed in the role.
