About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Housing Options Advisor, funded by the Government’s Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) to be based within our dynamic and successful Rough Sleeping Team to help ensure rough sleeping is rare, brief, and non-recurring across North Northamptonshire by providing statutory homelessness advice and support.

Please note based on external funding this post is fixed term until the end of March 2025.

What will you be doing?

As the Rough Sleeping Team’s Housing Options Advisor, you will undertake full housing assessments for all rough sleepers being supported by the team, provide guidance, advice, and support with appointments (remotely if required), and help the team to achieve move-on accommodation and related support solutions where possible.

You will also take the lead on completing all Keyways applications (the Council’s Housing Register) on behalf of rough sleepers being supported and develop relationships with other agencies and partners to help meet their housing need.

About you

You will have experience of working within housing and have a good understanding of homelessness issues and legislation including experience of casework management.

You will have a proven ability to provide excellent customer care working effectively with others, have good interpersonal skills and be able to adapt to an ever-changing working environment.

To succeed in the role, you must have excellent communication skills, be an accomplished negotiator and problem solver and be able to deal with challenging behaviour.
