About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6 month secondment into a Programme Manager role, leading and shaping the corporate services transformation programme.

This role will work across corporate services teams to shape and define change and transformation projects that are crucial to the business of services.  Projects that are part of the programme now and in the future include the implementation of major IT changes like new case management systems, and work with customer services to transform customer transactions and interactions on the phone and online.

The role will also involve leading the agenda at the monthly Corporate Services Transformation Board, providing updates on progress and issues around projects in the programme with Senior Responsible Officers across corporate services.

What will you be doing?

A key part of this role is overseeing the progress of projects in the corporate and enabling services transformation programme, ensuring they are aligned with the strategic objectives of the Council and corporate services, and diagnosing and unblocking risks and issues which affect the programme as a whole or are significant for particular projects.

Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, especially Senior Responsible Officers and IT, will be key.

The person in this role will also be managing an expert team of Project Managers and Change and Engagement Managers, and will act as part of the management team of the Performance, Intelligence and Partnerships service.

About you

You will be an existing NNC employee, who is ready to take a step up into more senior team manager role.  This is a development opportunity, so you’ll be keen to learn and grow, and you might not yet be the finished article.

You should have experience and knowledge about project management, and be able to provide professional leadership for the team you are managing.  You will have an understanding of the role and contribution of a Programme Manager. 

You should have the ability to develop positive and constructive relationships with people you are line managing, and support them to give their best contribution.
