About the role

North Northamptonshire is currently on an exciting journey to transform its buildings and infrastructure and as part of this, we are looking for a Project Co-ordinator to join our small Capital Projects team.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering minor projects or initiatives and providing support to our Construction Project Managers on larger scale projects. 

You will need experience of working with a range of people internally and externally to deliver a project or initiative. Alongside this you will also need good organisation, literacy, numeracy and communication skills.

Projects will be based across North Northamptonshire and you will need you to attend site meetings or meetings in the office on average a minimum of 2 days a week.

What will you be doing?

Project Management – supporting Construction Project Managers on larger projects or delivery of small projects from brief through design and delivery.

Developing Project Briefs - understand and interpret documentation that supports service areas to work together with them to develop project briefs/scope.

Stakeholder Management & Engagement - develop effective relationships and communication with stakeholders and partners both internal and external to the council. 

Risk & Issue Management – develop, manage and monitor the project risk and issues register ensuring that the risks are costed and mitigated to the lowest possible level that the council  can accept.

Finance – cost planning, developing business cases, monitoring the project budget maximising value for money including value engineering.

Procurement – identifying, procuring and awarding contracts for the required professional services, surveys, other specialists, design teams and contractors. 

Relationships – developing relationships internally and externally to overcome challenges and progress projects effectively.

About you


The successful candidate will be agile and flexible enough to adapt ensuring the project has flexibility within its parameters to allow for changes should the strategic, regulations or outcome required change during the delivery of the project.

The post will be hybrid working, there is a requirement to attend the project site and team meetings/office in person as needed, it is anticipated this would be on average 2 days a week.

You will have good numeracy and literacy and ideally a relevant project management qualification or equivalent alongside knowledge and experience of manging projects.

Knowledge and experience of local authorities is key particularly to provide a knowledge of elements such as governance, approvals and procurement processes.
