Public Health Practitioner (Fixed Term – 12 Months)

North Northamptonshire Council

We are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic and skilled Public Health Practitioners to join our Public Health & Wellbeing team at North Northamptonshire Council.

These are 12-month fixed-term opportunities in:

•    Adult Health Improvement

•    Children and Young People’s Services

  • Location: North Northamptonshire Council(hybrid working) Kettering office

What will you be doing?

As a Public Health Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering and shaping evidence-based public health programmes and interventions. You will support prevention and early intervention work, helping to improve outcomes for local communities.

You will:

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of health improvement initiatives
  • Support strategic planning and innovative approaches to public health
  • Help embed the value of prevention across council services
  • Work collaboratively with partners across health, social care, voluntary and community sectors
  • Provide technical and system-wide expertise within your specialist area (Adult Health Improvement or Children and Young People)

These roles offer a valuable opportunity to influence real change at a system level, working across organisations to tackle health inequalities and improve population health.

About you

We are looking for motivated individuals who bring:

  • Relevant experience in public health, health improvement or a related field
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and population health approaches
  • Strong partnership working and communication skills
  • The ability to work both strategically and operationally
  • A passion for improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities

You will be part of a supportive team but also contribute to the wider public health agenda, bringing your expertise to cross-cutting work.
