About the role

Lead the Fight Against Homelessness. Make a Difference Every Day.

Join us in a pivotal leadership role where you'll lead specialist housing advice and homelessness teams, helping vulnerable residents access the support, guidance, and housing solutions they need. Working across North Northamptonshire, you'll drive high-quality service delivery, develop strong multi-agency partnerships, and play a key role in preventing and reducing homelessness while supporting positive outcomes for individuals and families.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the operational delivery of housing triage and casework services, ensuring high-quality homelessness prevention, housing advice, and crisis support that meets statutory requirements, service standards, and council policies.
  • Lead, manage and support Senior Housing Options Advisors and their teams to deliver high-quality housing advice, homelessness prevention and assessment services.
  • Monitor team performance, providing coaching, guidance and support to achieve service objectives and performance targets.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal teams and external agencies to improve outcomes for residents and reduce homelessness.
  • Ensure accurate performance monitoring, statutory reporting and data management, producing reports for senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of the Council's Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, service plans, policies and improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the management of service budgets, expenditure monitoring and financial processes.
  • Drive continuous service improvement, innovation and best practice, contributing to funding bids, projects and service developments.
  • Support the effective use and development of case management systems to improve efficiency and service delivery.

About you

  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. HND/NVQ Level 4) or show an equivalent capability.
  • Substantial anddemonstratable experience at a team leader level (or similar) within a localauthority, housing association or voluntary organisation
  • Proven experience in managing housing advice, homelessness prevention, or related services
  • Extensive knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and related legislation and caselaw.
  • Experience of managing, mentoring and supporting teams to deliver high-quality services.
  • Experience of attending and participating in multidisciplinary case conferences. 
  • Spoken and written English fluency
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. 
  • Able to produce clear, concise and persuasive reports and letters on complex issues
  • Good analytical skills and ability to produce and interpret statistical information and make sound decisions
  • A skilled problem-solver and negotiator with an organised and imaginative approach to work and the ability to manage difficult and sensitive situations
  • Ability to work well under pressure, on own initiative, and manage and prioritise own workload and team members when needed
