Workshop and Play Inspector

What will you be doing?

You will help ensure that the Council's parks, open spaces and play areas are safe, clean and well-maintained for residents and visitors. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines inspections, maintenance, repairs and operational support, helping to keep our outdoor spaces operating to the highest standards throughout the year.

• Inspect and maintain play parks, parks and open spaces to ensure Council assets remain safe, clean, well-presented and free from defects.
• Carry out regular safety inspections of play equipment and facilities, completing and maintaining all required statutory records and documentation.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions to deliver essential maintenance and inspection services across the operational area.
• Undertake routine checks and basic maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment, ensuring they are clean, serviced and fit for purpose.
• Complete vehicle inspections in accordance with Fleet requirements and report any defects or maintenance needs.
• Assist with servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance of play equipment and other Council assets.
• Provide workshop support to help ensure the availability and reliability of equipment and minimise service disruption.
• Ensure play areas and other key public spaces are free from litter, glass and other hazards before maintenance activities commence.
• Support the delivery of high standards across parks and open spaces through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to service improvements that enhance the safety, appearance and quality of Council-owned assets and facilities.

Working Hours: 

Monday to Thursday: 07:30 till 15:30 and Friday 07:30 till 15:00 

About you

• GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths
• PA1 and PA6
• RPII Routine Inspector Level
• Minimum 2 years’ experience of delivering play equipmentrepairs and inspections

   

• Minimum 2 years’ experience of delivering repairs andmaintenance to Grounds Services equipment
• The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken and written English is essential for the post.

• Capacity to undertake physical aspects of the role including manual handling, walking long distances, using pedestrian equipment and working in all weather conditions.

• Physically fit

• Full UK driving licence
