About the role

Do you want to play a key role in transforming how we deliver housing services at North Northamptonshire Council?

We are looking for motivated and ambitious people to join our Housing Management Service at a time of real change and investment. Following a major restructure, we are making our service more visible, proactive and closer to our tenants than ever before.

You will be part of a service that is:

  • Visible and connected – smaller patches, stronger links with tenants and communities.
  • Cleaner and safer – more caretakers working across our estates.
  • Supportive and responsive – stronger focus on helping vulnerable tenants and quicker support with adaptations.
  • Engaged and accountable – a stronger tenant voice and more opportunities for residents to shape our services.

What will you be doing?

What you will be doing

You will lead a patch-based housing management team, inspiring confidence and delivering consistent, high-quality services. 

Your work will include:

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to Housing Officers and Assistants.
  • Taking ownership of complex tenancy cases, including anti-social behaviour, safeguarding and tenancy breaches.
  • Ensuring vulnerable tenants receive the right support through close partnership working.
  • Working with caretakers and other teams to keep estates safe, clean and welcoming.
  • Monitoring performance and budgets, and reporting on outcomes.
  • Acting as a visible presence on estates, engaging with tenants, councillors and community groups.
  • Leading by example in delivering excellent customer service and promoting tenant engagement.

  • A strong background in tenancy or neighbourhood management, with experience of handling complex cases.
  • The ability to support and mentor Housing Officers and Assistants, building confidence and consistency across your patch.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to balance support, enforcement and partnership working.
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach, with the drive to deliver improvements for tenants and communities.
